Final Thoughts & Reflections

Image
With the spring semester coming to a close, I often look back and reflect on personal growth throughout these last fourteen weeks. This class was not what I expected. The course, Exploring Your Digital Portfolio, has taught me many different skills that I will be able to apply towards building a fulfilling career. We developed our digital presence, curate content, experience blogging, create a website, explore new technology and apps, and learn how to make the internet work for yourself. The different tools and skills introduced to me within this class will allow a stable foundation to expand my reach within my field. This class had a diverse class, with people from many different fields. The different tools were able to be applied to everyone in the class, with slight tweaking for our own field. It was really eye opening experience.       One of the first things we did was create a professional Twitter profile . This was the platform which we developed our own digital presenc

Makey Makey Learning For All Ages & Careers

What would you think if your professor asked the class to bring in aluminum foil, cardboard, sliced celery, bananas, and Play-Doh? With a special note of coming to class hungry? A huge noticeable question mark above your head. With instructions to watch a basic circuits video, you could think of possibly making something creative electrical work. Once the class was settled, we were surprised with Makey Makey Kits. We were given the task of using the materials we brought to class and the kits to complete a functioning controller for the game Frogger . With a surprising curveball, we couldn't touch the circuit board to move the frog. Insert the image of all students with open mouths here in your imagination. First, our team tried to connect the lead wires into the headers and used alligator clips to t

The interview process is to see if you are a good fit for the job and a team player. This is not only for yourself, but to see how you interact with people. Resumes are the highlights and skills of your professional career. These are showing off your hard work to have the interviewer ask the right questions and showcase yourself. There are some caution with over embellishing what you can or cannot do. This can come back to bite you in a negative way. When exploring the workforce straight from your undergrad, it is better to try and keep your resume at a one page maximum. Within your resume, list interesting proj
